 WEEKEND PEACH BUZZ

DECEMBER 4, 2004

Overscene

New York jewelry designer David Yurman, in town to celebrate the opening of his boutique in Lenox Square, dined at Rathbun's on Krog Street with Mayor Shirley Franklin and her daughter Kali.

They chowed down on eggplant steak fries and mussels, plus lamb and steak. Also in the party: the designer's wife, Sybil, state Sen. Kasim Reed and architect Thomas Juul-Hansen, who designed the Yurman shop interior.

At another table, PBS French chef Jacques Pepin ate lobster tacos and lamb meatballs.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Yurman gave $5,000 each to two of the mayor's favorite causes: Howard University and the Regional Commission on Homelessness.
